App Product Design Process

The app product design project was part of the DTS course. The final product of this project had to be a power point representing our app with every button going somewhere through hyperlinks to other slides in the document.Overall, this project took two weeks starting with evaluating prompts for other apps we had to research. When we started designing the app we got with a group and worked mostly in school, but did some work outside of school to reach the due dates. We also had to complete a wireframe of the app to use for the final power point. The specific targeted skill of this project was the application of the design process. We needed the process skills because creating an app is a long process. We first had to identify the problem we wanted our app to solve and analyze it. Then we think of the criteria and constraints (e.g. it must solve a problem, must be professional in nature… etc.). Then we listed the possible solutions (e.g. City Buses by me, Find my School Bus) and choose the optimal one (we choose Find my School Bus). Our skills in power point were used to complete this project because our final product was in power point. Our use of power point was vital because the final product had to display everything about our app and we had just learned many new features. While completing this project, I deepened my knowledge of the design process by applying the notes we took in class. I also increased my knowledge of power point by being introduced to new design features and ways to use the application. Some difficulties I faced were the use of new features in power point and creating our app to look professional. We had limited time to learn and then be able to use these features in depth for our project. I overcame this by asking my partner and the teacher for help and watching tutorials. One of the requirements of our project was that it had to be professional in nature. My partner and I found creating a professional looking app in limited tie was difficult. We overcame this by listening to the optional features our teacher discussed and utilizing them for our project to make it more professional.
