Impacts of Technology Project

This project was part of the DTS course. In this project we chose a type of technology, such as artificial intelligence, wearables, and augmented reality. We found the impact of our chosen technology in six of the following categories; health/wellness/fitness, socialization, laws/politics, economy, social justice, training/education/simulation, environment, and violence/aggression/civility. Our project was about wearables and we included its impact on fitness, social effects, laws, economy, social justice, and violence. This project took five school days to compete in our groups of two to three. At first, we had worksheets that helped us plan our project due each day. Then, we went off in our groups to research our technology and make our presentations. No work outside of school was necessary. This project targeted our skills of working together and researching in a timely manner. It was necessary to work together as a group because one person working alone or one person doing all the work wouldn’t be able to complete this project on time. Our research had to be done in a timely manner so we had enough time to work on our presentation. We divided up the research so it could be done more efficiently. In order to complete this project, we would need to know how to use Prezi. Prezi made our presentation more interesting, but was more difficult to use than PowerPoint. While completing this project, I learned how more about wearables. Wearables are up and coming smart watches that can track your fitness. This project got me very interested in wearables. One difficulty I faced was having certain amount of work required to be done each day. I overcame this by dividing the work with my group, working in a timely manner, and asking my teacher for help when I was stuck.
